“Forks Over Knives” Movie Night This Saturday! 

Please join us for a discussion on Zoom of “Forks Over Knives,” a critically acclaimed documentary that has influenced how millions of people eat. The film examines the profound claim that most, if not all, of the chronic diseases that afflict humans can be avoided, mitigated, or even reversed by adopting a whole-food, plant-based diet. The film features the work of Dr. T. Colin Campbell, Jacob Gould Schurman Professor Emeritus of Nutritional Biochemistry at Cornell Univerity, and Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, a former top surgeon at the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic, whose separate research led to the same startling conclusion about the impact of animal products and processed foods on human health. Putting the idea of food as medicine to the test, the film follows everyday Americans with common, chronic conditions  (including type II diabetes mellitus, high blood pressure, and cardiovasclature diseaase) as they seek to reduce their dependence on medications and learn to use a whole-food, plant-based diet to regain control over their health and their lives.

Jeff Baker and John Dundon will then lead a discussion of the movie on Zoom on Saturday night, November 13, from 7:00 to 8:30 pm. They will invite participants to share their reactions to the movie, discuss the health effects of a plant-based diet, share strategies for changing your diet, provide resources, answer questions, and facilitate discussion among participants about the joys and challenges of moving towards a whole-food, plant-based lifestyle.
