Here’s a look at our upcoming services:

October 15 – More Than a Travelogue: we’ll revisit the FUUSN Musicians Tour to Germany, with great music, reflections by participants, bi-lingual hymns, and an appearance by the No Rehearsal Band.

The service on October 22 will feature the simple yet powerful song, “Unity.” This is a translation of the Hebrew text “Hine ma tov uma nayim…” – “How good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.” We sang a different setting of this important text on September 17. We will also sing an amazing setting of the Langston Hughes poem “I Dream a World” by African-American composer Rosephanye Powell. And…bonus! – at this service our 2nd-5th graders will sing a song written by Ghanaian drummer Sol Amarifio, “Woyaya.”

October 29: the annual Wheel of Life service, with its always-amazing music and readings.

On October 31, 1517 Martin Luther defiantly nailed a copy of his 95 Theses to the door of the Wittenberg Castle church, beginning the Protestant Reformation. Come on November 5 to hear contemporary versions of Luther’s most famous hymn, “A Mighty Fortress.” The choir will sing the lively and exciting “Cantate Domino” by Heinrich Schütz and other music of the period

Every year, some 40 groups in our area present concerts or sing-alongs of Handel’s Messiah. One might think enough is enough. But – classics are classics for a reason. Come explore the artistry, craft and profound depth of this work, which we will sing on December 10. All are welcome – rehearsals are on Wednesdays, 7:30 – 8:30 pm.
