Three years ago, several of us got together to explore ways to increase plan-based foods in our diets. We originally called ourselves the FUUSN Vegan-Curious Dinner Club, as we wished to welcome people who are not vegan but who are curious about it or simply want to do more plant-based eating. We have grown and evolved, and now include people from other UU churches and others who are aligned with UU values. We share information about nutrition, environmental impacts, and of course wonderful food! We have potlucks and host events, including the recent tour of Unity Farm Sanctuary and an upcoming Zoom discussion of the movie Forks Over Knives, which addresses the nutritional aspects of plant-based diets. Information about the movie night is at http://old2023.fusn.org/event-forks-over-knives-discussion-on-zoom-saturday-night-nov-13-at-700-pm/
In order to better reflect our broad focus, we are relaunching under the name UU Plant-Based Eating Club. And we have a page on the FUUSN website! Check it out at www.fusn.org/uu-plant-based-eating-club. We will be adding more graphics and events over time, but the basic information is there.
We need your help! The group needs a logo, and we welcome anyone to design an original logo and submit it to us at UU-Plant-Based-contact-us@googlegroups.com by November 29. If we pick your logo, we will give you a $100 gift certificate to Walnut Grille, an excellent, minority-owned, vegetarian/vegan restaurant in Newton. Good luck, and we look forward to seeing your creativity at work! Please feel free to pass this opportunity on to anyone who may be interested.
