Transgender Day of Remembrance Vigil

Greetings All,

As we have done so for several years, we will join together on Friday, November 20 at 6:00 p.m. for our annual Transgender Day of Remembrance vigil to honor the memory of those whose lives were lost over the last year in acts of anti-transgender violence.

Because we will gather outside, appropriately distant from each other (spread across the entire front lawn if necessary), all wearing masks, with no singing, the Operations Council has given their okay for us to hold the vigil in front of the Sanctuary doors at FUUSN. Because we need to keep the numbers as limited as possible the vigil must be for our FUUSN community only. As much as we would like to invite friends and family –– please do not.

Of course, if the weather doesn’t cooperate or the state/city guidelines for houses of worship change between now and the 20th we will move the vigil to Zoom.

For over two decades, Transgender Day of Remembrance has helped raise awareness of violence committed against transgender, non-binary, and gender non-conforming people and publicly mourns and honors the lives of those who might otherwise be forgotten. It is a day that allows us to stand up collectively in opposition to anti-transgender hatred and prejudice. It is a sacred day.

Peace,
Erin
