Want to let Massachusetts prisoners know they’re not forgotten?
It’s easy, and you can do it in November, before the hubbub of the holidays. Buy any of the items listed below and drop off your purchase at FUUSN through Sunday December 1st. Clearly marked bins will be at both entrances to the sanctuary. That’s it! The only (strict) requirement is that all contributions conform to these guidelines from the Department of Correction:
Bars of deodorant bath soap – 4.5 oz.
Tubes of toothpaste – 5.5 – 6.0 oz.
Stick deodorants – 2.5 oz or larger (no roll-ons or gels)
Plastic bottles of shampoo – 12-15 oz.
Men’s all white CREW socks, preferably with 5″ of ribbing or less (no logos, color stitching, tube socks, knee highs or diabetic socks)
Other folks will transport donations to Concord, where they will be bundled into gift bags and distributed to inmates. Tax-deductible gifts are also welcome. Checks can be made out to Concord Prison Outreach, earmarked “Holiday Gifts” and mailed to Concord Prison Outreach, 6 Walden St, Concord, MA 01742.
On behalf of FUUSN’s prison art class team, thank you to all who participate. Questions? Contact Connie Stubbs (constance.stubbs@gmail.com).
