This is an opportunity to express solidarity with the Roxbury community as we honor the lives of those who have been murdered in Boston. Everyone invited to walk with Team FUUSN on the annual Mother’s Day Walk, sponsored by the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute.
Several FUUSNites are considering walking and carpooling can be arranged. Walkers can meet at the UU Urban Ministry which is close to the walking route. Parking & restrooms available. If interested, please email judyfriedman57@gmail.com or call 857-389-6601.
If you cannot walk but would like to contribute to LDB Peace Institute via Team FUUSN, you can donate here: https://www.mothersdaywalk4peace.org/Team/View/161321/First-Unitarian-Universalist-Society-in-Newton
Theme this year: Building Together for Generation Peace. The LDB Peace Institute supports families who have experienced the trauma of violence and homicide of a loved one. LDBPI tries to break down barriers for families, providing both emotional and practical support, including subsidizing funerals and burials for families after a homicide has occurred, and reaching out to children who have been affected by violence
Chaplain Tina Chery, Founder, President and CEO of Louis D. Brown Peace Institute, reminds us that this is a spiritual issue and goes beyond urban borders. Faith communities are critical to widening the circle of support. Find out more about the mission and vital work of LDB Peace Institute by going to the website: https://ldbpeaceinstitute.org/
We hope you will join the walk on Sunday, May 8th!
