After a significant national search, the DRE Search Committee is pleased to welcome our new Director of Religious Education, Devin Shmueli.
Devin has a passion for learning from and listening to the wisdom of people of all ages and stages, because he believes that even the smallest child can help serve as a guide on the path of responsible meaning-making! Drawing from the Jewish tradition in which he was raised, where there are often more questions than answers, he finds joy in giving people the tools and safe, brave spaces to explore their faith and spirituality.
Devin is originally from Raleigh, North Carolina, and attended the University of North Carolina in Greensboro where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies. In 2017, Devin graduated with a Master of Divinity from Andover Newton Theological School. Outside of work, Devin enjoys spending time at the gym, visiting with friends in and out of town, exploring new restaurants, hiking locally and, especially, in the Berkshires, and throwing pottery on the wheel. He is also dabbling in woodworking, too.
Devin most recently served as Director of Community Engagement at the First Parish Church in Waltham. We know that Devin’s creativity, enthusiasm and commitment to liberal theology will serve us well at FUUSN. If you haven’t yet signed up to be an RE Teacher – there’s still time! And what a great way to welcome Devin!
thank you – the DRE Search Committee
