It was wonderful to see folx join in the Instant Choir last Sunday – it’s always an important, fun, and kind of wild way to participate in worship. Our next IC venture will be on October 23, and there’ll be an Instant Choir celebration of social justice songs at Music Sunday on November 6!

On October 2 we’ll have our first Sunday Morning Family Choir, a chance for families and friends to learn a song and sing it in the service. Children, their friends, families, and really anyone who wants, will come at 9:45 am to learn “Who Did Swallow Jonah Down.” (C’mon, when else will you get to sing that?)

We’re also coming up on our first pre-service Hymn Sing of the year. Feel free to send me (music@fusn.org) your favorite hymns and we’ll raise the roof a bit, beginning around 9:55 am.

Some of the most engaging and moving experiences in worship happen when we hear our friends and neighbors singing or playing a solo/duet/whatever. We’re always looking for people who want to contribute to our worship services – let me know if you’d like to play or sing in a service.

Of course the Sanctuary Choir is open to all, and we welcome new members. We sing a mix of jolly easy songs, some pop, some gospel, along with classical music from several centuries. We’re getting ready for a music-themed Music Sunday on November 6, working on Vaughan Williams’ Serenade to Music, some social-justice songs, and a gospel-style closing song. We rehearse on Wednesdays, 7:30-9 pm in the Parish Hall, and Sundays 9:00-10:00 am in the Sanctuary. We’ll also rehearse the Music Sunday rep at 11:45ish in the Chapel beginning this Sunday (Sept 25).
