Our Christmas Eve Offerings will go to Chaplains on the Way
Thanks to the generosity of FUUSN members, our Minister’s Discretionary Fund (the usual recipient of Christmas Eve offerings) is in great shape. In keeping with the spirit of the season of welcoming those who are lost, alone, and in need of shelter, this year’s Christmas Eve offerings will benefit Chaplains on the Way.
Chaplains on the Way is a non-denominational interfaith organization founded in 2008 by United Church of Christ minister, Reverend Joan Murray. She began walking along the streets of Waltham to meet people experiencing homelessness. Her intent and intention for Chaplains on the Way was to offer a ministry of presence on the streets, at soup kitchens, and in shelters. Their work is now led by Executive Director, Jill Gaulding, as well as chaplain interns, several part-time chaplains, and many volunteers, all from a variety of faith backgrounds and traditions. They continue to offer spiritual companionship to people experiencing homelessness in Waltham, wherever they may need to be.
Our FUUSN children and youth will be involved in the coming months by volunteering with their Winter Breakfast Program and learning more about our neighbors experiencing homelessness. We hope you will give generously to this important ministry.
