Plant Based Eating Club

Movie Night with UU Plant-Based Eating Club – January 28 and February 2

The UU Plant-Based Eating Club cordially invites to you to join a Zoom discussion of the movie Seaspiracy. Seaspiracy is a groundbreaking Netflix Original documentary that exposes the fishing industry’s impact on marine wildlife and ecosystems, and identifies actions consumers can take action to preserve our oceans. When the film was released in 2021, it quickly rose to Netflix’s top 10 most popular films and TV shows in several countries worldwide. Seaspiracy was produced by Kip Anderson and directed by Ali Tabrizi, the same team behind the film Cowspiracy. Please watch the movie on your own (or in small groups) and join us for one or both Zoom discussions on Saturday, January 28 at 7pm (register at https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZIpduisrjkvHtP4NzGzkgHsTtUlC-iGeto9) and Thursday, February 2 at 7pm (register at https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZ0ldO2upz4oHdSYsenjtz9IeRjIb5GFGifg). Please be sure to register for a session to get the Zoom link and an optional calendar invitation. If you would like to watch the movie with others, please email UU-Plant-Based-contact-us@googlegroups.com and you will be put in touch with other interested persons.

Book Club with UU Plant-Based Eating Club – January 12 and January 20

The UU Plant-Based Eating Club is hosting a group read of “The Engine 2 Seven-Day Rescue Diet: Eat Plants, Lose Weight, Save Your Health,” by Rip Esselstyn. Available at the Newton Free Library, this book features the interesting story of how a group of firefighters in Texas decided to try plant-based eating in order to improve their health. The results may surprise you, and the book is also a treasure trove of healthy, easy-to-make, plant-based recipes. We will discuss Chapters 1-4 and 8-9 in January and the remainder of the book in March. The January meetings will be held on Thursday January 12 at 7pm by Zoom (please register to get the Zoom link at https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZUqdOiopjwsHNyVEFC0_KqlzbdHnJWK8_D-) and on Friday January 20 at 7pm in person at Dede Vittori’s house (please RSVP to Dede at bakervittori@comcast.net). Feel free to attend one or both.
