At the Oct. 1 Congregational Meeting we will discuss an invitation to join a “Newton Refugee Cluster” including two churches (First Baptist and Grace Episcopal) and three synagogues (Newton Centre Minyan, Temple Reyim, Temple Beth Zion), which during the last year have sponsored three mothers and their children fleeing Uganda, Ecuador and Cameroon. There is no financial obligation, but many volunteer opportunities include providing temporary housing, rides, ESL, babysitting, donating clothing, publicity, and work training. When FUUSN sponsored a Vietnamese refugee family thirty-five years ago, it was a wonderful and powerful experience for all of us. For more info or to volunteer, email lynnholbein@gmail.com.
