Journey Songs is a hospice choir committed to singing for people who are terminally ill. Professional and family caregivers, and loved ones in private homes, nursing homes and hospitals benefit from our gift of song. We also sing at Memorial services, funerals, and Celebrations of Life.
We are recruiting new singers, who receive an orientation, join a rehearsal and audition with our musical director, Nathan Reiff. If interested, please contact him at nathan.reiff@gmail.com. We rehearse two Sundays/month, 3:30-5:00 at FUUSN, First Unitarian Universalist Church in West Newton.
Journey Songs has been singing for 14 years, sponsored by FUUSN.
Our repertoire draws from many faith and world traditions including lullabies, chants, rounds, spirituals, hymns and niguns. We choose songs meaningful to client and caregivers upon request. If you’d like to request a sing for a loved one or patient, please contact Betsy Simmons at blousimmons@gmail.com.
We believe in the healing power of music and calming presence, whether in person or virtual. We offer audio and video recordings, including images of nature synched to our singing. These audio tracks and videos can be downloaded from our website journeysongs.org. Scroll down to Downloads section of the website and click on the picture of music notes. There you may enter your name, email, facility name. Click on the download button for the songs you wish to receive.
Singing is our gift and donations of any amount are gratefully accepted when downloading our work or requesting a sing. Thank you!
