Special Congregational Meeting on October 1

The Board will hold a Special Congregational Meeting on Sunday Oct. 1 at 11:45 in the Parish Hall in order to:

• Vote on a proposed By-law change to include “Universalist” in our name.

• Discuss an invitation from the Refugee Immigration Ministry (RIM) for FUUSN to join a cluster of Newton churches and synagogues supporting asylum seekers. Operating for about a year, the cluster has sponsored three mothers with children fleeing Uganda, Cameroon and Ecuador. Our Board of Trustees enthusiastically supports the recruiting of 10-12 FUUSN volunteers to enable FUUSN to join this refugee ministry.

• Hear an update from Erin on plans for the Oct. 14 Financial Summit for finance officers and committees.

• Approve the Annual Committee Reports.

Child care will be available from 11:30 to 1:30 for both the Sept. 24 and Oct. 1 meetings, with pizza and apples slices for children’s lunch. Coffee and light refreshments will be available for adults.
